A Library Lab is an individual research appointment initiated
by a student (or other member of the Grinnell College community)
or a small group of students to pursue research on a specific
topic. A librarian will prepare prior to the appointment
and then meet with the student(s) or staff member to discuss
and walk through the steps of the research process.
Among many options, a Library Lab session may consist of
receiving assistance in choosing a topic, identifying articles
and books relevant to a specific topic, or going through
all the steps of a research project in an in-depth manner.
A Library Lab may also consist of a brief introduction to
a research area with which a student or staff member is
unfamiliar or it may provide familiarization with the arrangement
of and the tools and materials available in Burling Library
and/or the Kistle Science Library.
