Borrowing Policies for Faculty


Faculty and their spouses or partners are welcome to make use of the Grinnell College Libraries, its materials, and services. For details about our circulation policies for faculty and their families, please see the information provided on our circulation policies page.


Borrowing privileges for short-term faculty and their families are different from those of long-term faculty. Please view policies for visiting faculty at our circulation policies page.


Interlibrary Loan


The Grinnell College Libraries will borrow material from libraries around the world. Please see the interlibrary loan page for more information and for the online request form.

 

Center for Research Libraries.

Grinnell College Libraries is a member of the Center for Research Libraries. The Center collects foreign newspapers, dissertations, government documents from around the world, and many other collections that are difficult for most single libraries to acquire. This material is available through interlibrary loan. Talk to a librarian for more information or search the CRL Catalog.

Grinnell College librarians are happy to work with you. You will find us at the reference desk or on call. If you don't see a reference librarian at the reference desk, please check at the circulation desk (x3350) for assistance in locating a librarian. Each department and concentration has a consulting librarian to assist you and your students.


Request Materials for the Library Collection

 

INNOPAC (the Grinnell College Libraries' Catalog)


The libraries' Web-based catalog is available at http://cat.lib.grinnell.edu. A text-based (ascii) interface is also available. Use our catalog to locate books, journals and magazines, newspapers, sound recordings, videos and DVDs, microfilm, Web pages, and any other format of material we collect. For questions, contact a reference librarian in person at our reference desk, send a message to query@grinnell.edu, or call the reference desk at 641-269-3353 during reference hours. You may also contact your consulting librarian or another librarian or library staff member directly. Please see the library directory.


Libraries' Web Site


The libraries' Web site is a good place to start when looking for material available through the libraries or accessible via the World Wide Web. A librarian will be happy to assist you in navigating our Web pages if you have questions.


Indexes and Databases


The libraries make available a variety of print and electronic indexes, abstracts, and other databases. You may choose from several options to identify the databases that might be useful to you on our Databases and Indexes Web page.
