Do you have a list of the periodicals you carry?
A list of periodicals that the library owns and/or currently subscribes to can be found in the Serials List; these notebooks (black covers) can be found near the online catalogs, the CD-ROM databases, the Circulation Desk and the Reference Desk.

Can I check out books over the summer/breaks?
Ask at the Circulation Desk. Items usually don't circulate over breaks or summer vacation.

This book wasn't on the shelf and isn't checked out?
Go to the Circulation Desk. Provide the call number of the book or title, volume, and year of the missing journal. The Circulation Desk worker will look for the item in the group of materials behind the desk that are waiting to be reshelved or one might have to fill out a missing book slip at the Circulaiton Desk.

I'm sure I turned this book in, but the computer says I haven't.
Check to see if the item is on the shelf. If it is, bring it to the Circulation Desk.

Public phones (2) are located in the Burling Library Basement at the bottom of the main stairs, next to the orange doors. For long distance calls, you must use a calling card; the phones do not accept money.

Why don't we receive copies of some newspapers on the date they are published?
In order to insure that newspapers are received fairly regularly throughout all twelve months of the year, the library receives some newspapers by mail, not direct delivery. Because of mail delivery, several days worth will be sent in one delivery, rather than one being sent every day.
